Overview
What this training delivers
This training gives your team the skills to recognize an emergency fast and act before help arrives. Employees learn to spot unresponsiveness, abnormal breathing, severe bleeding, shock, choking and injury patterns that require 9-1-1, then provide care safely using scene safety, consent and PPE.
It covers far more than compressions. Your people leave able to control life-threatening bleeding, use an AED correctly, handle burns, fractures, allergic reactions and medical emergencies, and manage a scene with multiple casualties.
Washington employers are required to have trained responders on site. First Aid, CPR and AED certifications are renewed every two years. We also teach how to use these skills at home, outdoors and during hobbies, because the people who take this class do not stop being responders when they clock out.
Beyond training, we are a dealer for emergency medical supplies, including AEDs, if your facility needs equipment as well as certification.

Hands-On Practical
- CPR for adults, children and infants: hand placement, depth, compression rate and rescue breaths, with a step-by-step skill check
- AED use on adults, children and infants: pad placement, voice prompts, and special conditions including medical implants, jewelry, water and hair
- Severe bleeding control: direct pressure, wound packing, hemostatic dressings and tourniquet placement
- Naloxone administration simulation
- Epinephrine auto-injector demonstration
- Eye flushing and embedded object response
- Multiple casualty scenarios: scene safety and prioritizing supplies
Who needs this
Who is this training for
Washington requires at least one trained responder per shift at most regulated worksites. In practice, that means nearly every employer.
- High-hazard industry: construction, manufacturing, logging, electrical, confined space rescue teams, maritime and dock work
- Transportation and warehousing: truck drivers, forklift operators, distribution centers and airport ground crews
- Education and public safety: teachers, coaches, bus drivers, security and corrections
- Healthcare and caregiving: assisted living, adult family homes, home care and behavioral health
- Customer-facing and office: retail, restaurants, hotels, front desk, HR and office management

The rule of thumb: if EMS cannot reach your people quickly, someone on site needs to be trained.

Process
How it works
We come to your facility. Here is what to plan for, and what we bring with us.
Time Required
1.5 hours minimum for small groups, 2 to 4 hours for mid to large groups
Class Size
No limit. We train single shifts or full crews, and we cover multiple shifts.
Prerequisites
None. Open to all experience levels.
Employer Provides
- A room or floor space large enough for manikin work
- Employees available for the full class
What We Bring
- All manikins, AED trainers, bleeding control supplies and training materials
- Certification cards and documentation
- Everything else. This class needs space and nothing more.

Yes. Alongside training, we are a dealer for emergency medical supplies, including AEDs. If your facility needs equipment as well as certification, we can handle both.
Small groups run about 1.5 hours minimum. Mid to large groups run 2 to 4 hours. The range depends on class size, engagement and questions. We cover all the material and get your people back to work.
Yes, with no limit on group size, and we cover multiple shifts. We are mobile and come to your jobsite or facility. All we need is a room or floor space with enough room for manikin work. We bring everything else.
An HSI approved training card covering First Aid, CPR, AED and Bloodborne Pathogens. Stop the Bleed is available as an add-on. Digital cards are available on request, and we can issue continuing education units for trades.
Yes. HSI meets OSHA's nationally recognized training requirement and is accepted anywhere First Aid, CPR and AED training is required, including Washington L&I, DSHS caregiving, childcare licensing, construction, telecom, maritime and general industry. If an employer accepts AHA or Red Cross, they accept HSI.
The one exception is clinical medical roles that specifically require BLS for Healthcare Providers, such as hospitals, EMS agencies, and paramedic or nursing programs.
Yes. The HSI approved card is valid for two years from the date of training.
